This information must be filled in, otherwise you won't be able to use the extension properly.
Another thing that you will notice is the creation of two new modules : SMS History and SMS Templates.
These modules are used by the extension so don't worry about them for now.
Usage :
1- Sending an SMS:
To send an SMS, head to the Leads or Contacts modules, select a record and in the detailed view page, you will find the "Send SMS" button as shown in the image below:
Image 2
If you can't find the button, click on the arrow beside the button that will be here, and you will be able to select the "Send SMS" button from the dropdown menu.
Note: for the extension to be able to send SMS to the desired person, kindly make sure that the "Mobile" filed contains the recipient number.
On clicking the button a widget will popup with the following content:
Message Type : To choose whether you will send a custom message or a template message
Message Content : The actual content of the message that will be sent
Message Length: The number of characters in the message content

Kindly note that some fields change depending on the Message Type selected, the above image shows the Custom message.
On changing the Message Type to Template, a Message Template field appears, which we can use to select the desired template.
Also note that the Message Content field is now disabled as it is now only used to show the template content.
Refer to image 4 (below).

After specifying the desired message content, press "Send" and the message should be sent if there are no issues, otherwise an error message will appear below the "Send" button.
2- SMS History:
Once the Message has been sent successfully, a record will inserted into the SMS History module, this record could be viewed from the SMS History module or from the related list linked to the Lead/Contact that was the target of this SMS message.

3 - SMS Template:
To be able to send SMS Templates, first we must create an SMS Template.
Head to the SMS Templates module and create a new template, The following fields need to be filled:
SMS Template Name: Specify the name of the template
Message: Content of the template
Kindly refer to image 7 below:

Once the template is created, it can be viewed in the SMS Templates module (Refer to Image 8) and can be edited at any time.

To send an SMS message using a template, simply select the Lead/Contact you want to send the SMS to and press the "Send SMS" button.
Once the widget is loaded, change the "Message Type" value to "Template", then select the template of your choice (Refer to Image 9), once you are satisfied with the message content, simply click the "Send" button.

4 - Bulk SMS:
To send Bulk SMS, go to the Leads/Contacts module, and select the list of recipients you want, then select the "Send Bulk SMS" button (Refer to Image 10).

Once you click the button, a widget that is identical to the single SMS widget will appear. The only key difference here, is the extra "Receivers selected" field. This is a read only field that shows the number of selected recipients, kindly note that currently it is limited to 500 recipients per single use (Refer to Image 11).

All the features specified above also apply here, meaning that each message sent will have a record created for it in the SMS History module that is linked to the proper lead/contact, we can also choose whether to send custom SMS messages or Template messages.
5 - Custom Actions:
We can create workflows to send single SMS messages to the desired lead/contact by selecting "Send SMS" as our action (Refer to Image 12).
Image 12
Once selected, a window will popup (Refer to Image 13) with the following fields:
Module: Select the module you are creating this workflow for.
Note: By default the only modules that will be available to create workflows for are leads and contacts. to add more modules, kindly add a "Mobile" field to the desired module.Message Content: The content/body of the message to be sent.

After you have filled all of the required fields, you will be required to give a name to this action and save it. (Refer to Image 14)
